Canadian climate change scientist says IPCC needs fundamental shift

Author: Maureen Bader 2010/01/27

Dr. Andrew Weaver, a University of Victoria climatologist who shares the Nobel prize as a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) with Al Gore and the IPCC, the epicenter of all things global warming, says the IPCC Chairman, Rajendra Pachauri, should resign.

According to a Canwest News Service report, Dr. Weaver said; "Some might argue we need a change in some of the upper leadership of the IPCC, who are perceived as becoming advocates. I think that is a very legitimate question."

This turnaround came after the IPCC finally admitted that its claim about melting glaciers is bogus.

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation first blogged about bogus melting glacier claims in 2007 and again here.

Why would Dr Pachauri make bogus claims and advocate for action on global warming? Well, he has interests in businesses that depend on the IPCC’s policy recommendations. In other words, because he's making a lot of money.

Climate changes, always has and always will. Truth eventually prevails, but unfortunately, sometimes a lot of taxpayers' money is wasted before that happens.
